Why have some uniforms and sizes been out of stock for over a year?
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is the sole authorized supplier of Coast Guard Uniforms. DLA works only with USA manufacturers. There is a nationwide shortage of fabric supply, and these authorized manufacturers are unable to deliver the fabric needed to make most uniforms. This is impacting items such as ODU’s, Wash And Wear Pants, Dress Pants, SDBs, Windbreakers, Male and Female Ties, and Winter Dress Blue Shirts. DLA has not provided an expected “get well” date for the supply chain.
Why is there limited availability of Vanguard uniform items?
The demand for the newly created Coast Guard insignias is much higher than anticipated. There is a high level of demand for these insignias, and there is only one certified metal insignia supplier for USCG insignia. As soon as stock is available, it is made available on shopCGX.com for purchase. Some insignia items are made to order and are not carried in stock.
Why is there a lack of PHS (Public Health Service) uniform items in general?
Public Health Service (PHS) elected to not pay for uniform services at the Coast Guard and looked to NEX for uniform support. Customers seeking PHS uniforms should buy them at NEX.
When will CGX restock out-of-stock ODU trousers?
The ODU is exclusively supplied by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). DLA prioritizes fulfillment to TRACEN Cape May and Academy ahead of CGX. Most sizes of ODU pants and coats are on backorder and will only be shipped once DLA meets their safety-stock requirements. DLA provides no anticipated timeline to fill CGX stocks.
When will Winter Dress Blue Shirts become available?
There is no available source of fabric for the WDB shirts. CDTO is working to certify a new source of fabric for this item. Once the fabric is certified, the fabric must be produced and sent to a manufacturer to produce shirts. Once fabric is available, cut, sewn, and delivery of finished shirts is dependent on manufacturer’s open production time. Historically, this can take several months.
Is the Coast Guard Sun Hat/Boonie available?
There are two types of Boonie Hats available for purchase on shopCGX.com Both are supplied by Propper. Please search for SKU 10010862750 and 10010747919.
When will the Reg and Min metal response ashore insignias be released for purchase?
